Special Features of All-Clad D5
Considered as “evolutionary in style” and “revolutionary in performance”, the All Clad stainless with d5 technology provides accuracy in surface contact, which is important in optimizing the cookware’s performance when used on induction cooktops, as well as increasing its stability when used on traditional cooktops.
Each of the five bonded layers serves a specific purpose, resulting in noticeable difference in cooking performance.
Versatility defines All Clad stainless d5 technology as its design enables it to go from stovetop to table to dishwasher, delivering the usual lifetime of professional results that All Clad stainless has been known for. It’s also easy to maintain.
All Clad stainless with d5 technology produces exceptional heat consistency, critical for uniform browning.
Newly-designed handles and pour lip are ergonomic, all the more improving stability, comfort and handling control.
All-Clad D5 vs. 3-Ply
- The new All-Clad D5 stainless steel line is 20% more efficient than its 3-ply predecessor, so lower heat can be used for great results.
- D5 has 5 layers of metal, so heavier than the original 3-ply All-Clad stainless cookware. The 5 layers of metal include 2 aluminum layers and 3 stainless steel layers. The aluminum layer is followed by another stainless steel layer. The fourth layer is another aluminum to promote more even heating. The fifth and exterior layer – the cooking surface – is magnetic 18/10 stainless steel, making it possible to be used on induction cook tops, similar to the original All-Clad stainless.
- D5 has more ergonomic handle and flared brims, to facilitate pick up and use of pot holders or oven mitts. It’s similar to what you find in the All-Clad Copper Core line.
